Hi all, it’s dollie’s mama here. My Alisa aka Chrissa’s wig has been bothering me for awhile because it was think and there was not much I could do with it. Then I saw a gorgeous rewigged Chrissa on AGPlaythings forum and finally decided to rewig my girl. I am pleased with the result, but this process proved once again that I do indeed have two left hands. Thankfully my family was home and with the assistance of my kids and hubby Alisa got a makeover. Here is step-by-step picture guide how it was done. The beginning. Chrissa (Alisa) with all the necessities for her makeover. Things needed were: cotton rounds, non-acetone polish remover, tape, towel and a spoon.
First I undressed Chrissa and put her hair in ponytail. I wanted to remove her necklace too, but she refused.
Then I used cotton rounds and tape so that I don’t get her eyes damaged. And so that the poor thing doesn’t see what I was about to do with her.
Then I wrapped her in a towel
Next step was to get some non-acetone nail polish remover on the edges of the wig cap. I used cotton rounds soaked in non=acetone nail polish remover
Quickly it got really stinky, so I had to take my project outside.
I tried to use my nails and fingers to pull the wig off but it didn’t do the trick. So I called my daughter and with her help we started removing it with a spoon.
After what seemed like forever (30-40 minutes actually) we started seeing some results
We thought Chrissa looked very cool like that
Finally it was OFF! I think she is beautiful, with hair or without
Next step which was the scarrriest for me was wig attachment. I decided to use tacky glue in case I screw up. There are stronger glues on the market, but not for newbies like me. Plus they are very stinky.
Right before putting the wig on I paniced so I called my husband to assist.
Based on info from youtube videos he put glue on the middle of the wig and on the edges of it.
After some wiggling and stratching it was finally perfect
Isn’t she beautiful?
When I was taking pics I noticed that some glue came out and messed her hair a little, but I was able to wash it off.
Here she is next to unmodified Chrissa
Can’t say I had fun doing this, so I don’t know if I ever do this again, but I think Alisa looks fabulous and her wig is so nice now!
